Lancaster County caregiver accused of sexually assaulting mentally disabled resident

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A caregiver for a company in Lancaster County that helps those with disabilities was charged Monday after police say he sexually assaulted a resident.

The charges filed by Manheim Township Police allege that Jeffrey Stotler, 58, of Elizabethtown, was charged after testing results came back in July and showed his DNA was found on the woman.

Stotler worked as a caregiver for Faithful Homes LLC, a disability service provider that gives housing to patients, when the alleged sexual assault happened, according to police.

Stotler is accused of having the woman he was taking care of touch him sexually on Saturday, Feb. 10 at a home, located along Hampton Lane, owned by Faithful Homes.

Police said in the charges that the woman reported feeling a “wetness” where Stotler had touched her with his genitals and he had penetrated her. Stotler is also accused of kissing the woman.

DNA was swabbed on Stotler and the woman, which was noted in the charges to be sperm and not saliva, where she reported he sexually touched her in February and when the results came back, it was a match, police said.

Stotler denied any sexual contact with the woman but admitted he gave her a hug, police said.

Stotler is charged with felony counts of aggravated indecent assault and institutional sexual assault. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault.
