Lancaster County Phillies fans charged after man assaulted over comments

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Two men in Lancaster County have been charged with attacking another man over comments regarding the Philadelphia Phillies, according to Manheim Township Police.

According to an affidavit, on May 26, 2024, authorities responded to a report of a previous assault that happened on May 24 at Sandwich Factory on Lititz Pike in Manheim Township at around 9:42 p.m. Police say they met with the victim who said he was confronted by Kristopher Toomey over comments he made about the Phillies.

The affidavit states Toomey allegedly punched the victim on the right side of the face over the comments. The victim fell to the ground, where police say Toomey and Curtis Sprankle allegedly kicked and stomped on his head.

The victim sustained a concussion and a laceration to his scalp, leading to treatment at Penn State Health on May 25, per the affidavit.

Both Toomey and Sprankle were charged with aggravated assault and both men were released on $25,000 bail with hearings set for July 2.
