Las Cruces Police seek man suspected of carjacking, kidnapping and hit-and-run
Las Cruces police are continuing to seek the suspect of a carjacking, kidnapping and hit-and-run that occurred the morning of Thursday, Oct. 24.
The Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD) said the incidents took place on the 2600 block of N. Roadrunner Parkway, and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
LCPD Detective Carlos Carrillo said the suspect is Hispanic, approximately five foot six, 160 pounds, has a thin build, has a dark-complexion and has tattoos on both arms. He has a distinctive tattoo, the word "Payaso" or "Pay" on his right hand. He was last seen wearing a black muscle shirt and spoke only in Spanish.
The incident took place at approximately 8 a.m. Oct. 24, when a woman was sitting inside her vehicle while parked, waiting to go to work, Carrillo said. The man allegedly forcibly entered the vehicle and drove away with her still inside the car.
Shortly after the carjacking, the car was involved in a one-car collision at the intersection of N. Roadrunner Pkwy. and Santo Domingo.
The woman told police she fought back at the site of the collision but was injured. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect fled the scene on foot, taking property from the car with him.
Las Cruces Police urge anyone with information on the suspect to contact the department at 575-526-0795.
