Las Vegas man accused of shooting juvenile twice told him to ‘walk it off,’ police say

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An 18-year-old man faces several charges after police said he shot a juvenile twice during a drug deal gone wrong and then told him to “walk it off,” police said.

On June 24 at around 3 p.m., officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call where they found a juvenile suffering from two gunshot wounds, one in the abdomen and one in the lower back, according to an arrest report.

Several witnesses told police they saw a red vehicle, possibly a Dodge Charger with several impacts on the front window, last seen driving away, heading east.

Police were able to determine the Charger was driven by a man police learned was attempting to engage in the illegal sale of marijuana, the report stated.

During the marijuana sale, the details of which are redacted in the arrest report, Devin Dixon, 18, met with the man in the vehicle.

Surveillance video showed Dixon shooting toward the man in the Charger, but instead hitting the victim several times in the back. After firing several more times, Dixon appears to “hesitantly” walk up to the victim, pick up a firearm, and tell the victim to “walk it off,” before he left the scene, according to the report.

There is a possibility the victim may be paralyzed from the waist down, the report stated.

Additional information about the victim was redacted from the report due to his age, so it was unclear if Dixon knew the victim before the shooting.

Police arrested Dixon on July 5 and took him to the Clark County Detention Center where he is being held on a $150,000 bail.

Dixon faces the following charges:

  • Three counts of attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon

  • Three counts of assault with the use of a deadly weapon

  • Attempted robbery with the use of a deadly weapon

  • Discharging a gun into an occupied structure or vehicle

  • Conspiracy to commit robbery, battery with the use of a deadly weapon

  • Carry a concealed weapon without permit

  • Conspiracy to shoot a gun at/into an occupied structure or vehicle

  • Conspiracy to commit assault with the use of a deadly weapon

  • Conspiracy to commit battery with the use of a deadly weapon

  • Discharging a gun where a person might be endangered

  • Destroying the property of another valued between $250 to $5K

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 23. If Dixon makes bail, he will be required to be on high level electronic monitoring, have no contact with the victim, stay away from the victim’s addresses, stay out of trouble, and have no weapons in his possession.
