Las Vegas man faces DUI charge in deadly hit-and-run crash
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man faces several charges, including DUI, after a deadly hit-and-run crash Thursday morning.
On Thursday, Aug. 22 at around 11:15 a.m., a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred on West Flamingo Road east of the intersection with Cameron Street.
After the crash, one of the occupants of the motorcycle, a 28-year-old woman, was walking on the road when she was hit by a Dodge Charger.
Medical personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
The driver of the Charger, Corey Carr, 41, drove away from the scene, but witnesses to the crash followed him and told officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department where he was located.
According to police, Carr showed signs of impairment. Officers arrested him and took him to the Clark County Detention Center where he faces charges of DUI resulting in death and duty to stop at the scene of an accident.
Records show Carr’s initial court appearance is scheduled for Friday afternoon. Court records also show Carr previously faced a DUI charge in July 2021.
The woman’s death marked the 96th traffic-related death in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction.
