Results: Lauren Boebert wins in 2024 GOP primary for CO-4

Republican Lauren Boebert has won her primary, beating five other candidates in Tuesday's crowded GOP primary for Colorado's 4th Congressional District. The Associated Press called the race at 7:48 p.m.

According to unofficial tallies from the Colorado Secretary of State's office, Boebert was leading with approximately 43% of the votes supporting her as of 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Boebert thanked supporters in an email to supporters Tuesday evening.

"Every vote and voice mattered in this election, whether it was from Castle Rock, Windsor, or Crowley County. I will continue to travel the miles, make the phone calls, and show up in communities of every size and background to earn your votes this November," Boebert wrote.

She's facing state Reps. Richard Holtorf of Akron and Mike Lynch of Wellington, conservative radio host Deborah Flora, former state Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg of Sterling, and Peter Yu, a consultant in the banking industry.

The winner will advance to the November runoff against the winner of the Democratic primary, which includes candidates Trisha Calvarese, Ike McCorkle and John Padora.

Boebert, who has been serving as the representative for Colorado's 3rd Congressional District since early 2021, decided to move to the 4th district in late December 2023. Her new district includes much of the Eastern Plains as well as Douglas County.

The seat for the 4th District opened up this year, when Republican incumbent Ken Buck decided to leave Congress and resigned before completing his term. His last day was March 22.

Boebert narrowly won re-election in November 2022 when the Democratic candidate, Adam Frisch, lost by 546 votes.

The 3rd District holds a nine-point Republican advantage, which increased after redistricted maps were finalized in 2021, but Colorado’s 4th District is even redder with a 27-point Republican advantage, bolstering Boebert's election chances.

In the cash race, Boebert leads all five of her opponents, with $3.5 millions in contributions, according to campaign disclosures in 2024. Flora is a distant second with $426,258 in contributions.
