Lawsuit filed against Mark Robinson’s governor campaign alleges failure to pay for polling data
NORTH CAROLINA (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A lawsuit was filed Tuesday out of Stanly County accusing Mark Robinson’s election campaign, Friends of Mark Robinson (FOMR), for failing to pay more than $100,000 for polling data.
Wyoming-based Vox Insights, LLC produces polling data and related information to political candidate committees and candidates for public office.
The lawsuit alleges that the company entered into a contract with the committee for the Republican gubernatorial candidate on Sept. 13, when the company agreed to produce polling results to the campaign in exchange for money. The suit names a general consultant for FOMR, Conrad Pogorzelski III, as the person who executed the contract on behalf of the campaign.
Pogorzelski was one of the campaign staff members who stepped down in September following a CNN report that alleged Robinson called himself a “Black Nazi” on a pornography website’s message board.”
The suit adds that on or about Sept. 18, the plaintiff’s parent company, IFA Holdings, LLC, sent an invoice in the amount of $114,000 to the campaign for their services. They accuse the campaign of withholding payment since, per the terms of the contract, and the required payment exceeded the 30-day deadline, making it a breach of contract.
The company claims that FOMR do not intend to pay prior to Election Day nor will they be able to raise sufficient funds to satisfy the debts. The company is seeking a court injunction and a temporary restraining order against FOMR to ensure the campaign has enough money to pay for the service.
Vox is being represented by Raleigh law firm Michael Best & Friedrich LLP.
