Lee Young-ae for "Jewel in the Palace 2"

3 Jul – With the popularity of 2003's Korean historical drama "Jewel In The Palace" still soaring high, it was reported that a sequel is currently in plan.

As reported on HanCinema website, the drama's director Lee Byung-joon revealed that plans for filming a sequel to the global hit drama are currently underway. It was also revealed that actress Lee Young-ae is in the middle of talks to once again play the role of the beloved female protagonist, Jang-geum.

However, MBC – the broadcasting network that will produce the sequel stated, "Nothing has been finalised."

It was also noted that Lee Young-ae once revealed that while a good script or screenplay may inspire her to return to acting, her children will always be her first priority.

Nevertheless, should the actress decides to take the role, "Jewel In The Palace 2" will mark her small screen comeback after a nearly ten-year hiatus. Lee Young-ae hasn't been active ever since the drama and Park Chan-wook's 2005 movie "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance".
