Our system of laws has spoken. A jury of his peers found former President Donald Trump guilty on all counts in a criminal trial in New York.

Trump was convicted of falsifying business records to keep voters from learning about a sex scandal that would have influenced the 2016 presidential election.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, New York Judge Juan Merchan and the jury of 12 citizens should be commended for their courage in the face of violent rhetoric and threats. They did not succumb to bullying or intimidation. They used their common sense, followed the facts and reached a unanimous verdict.

Despite what Trump and his sycophants claim, the trial wasn’t rigged. Merchan was scrupulous in ensuring that Trump received a fair trial.

The former president’s attacks on the judge, jury and witnesses are attacks on our entire system of justice. They are reckless, dangerous and irresponsible.

President Joe Biden had nothing to do with the state case brought by Bragg. Biden refuses to interfere in Justice Department decisions, as underlined by the federal prosecution of his son Hunter Biden.

The president respects the Constitution and the rule of law.

Trump tries to sabotage democracy. The Manhattan trial revealed that he is willing to break the law and push others to break the law for political gain. It reaffirms why he is unfit for office.
