Little Rock police identify victim in deadly shooting near golf course

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Police Department officials have identified a victim in a deadly Tuesday shooting they said took place near the Eagle Hill Golf Course in the Otter Creek area.

In a Thursday release, authorities identified the victim as 39-year-old Shina Holmes.

On Tuesday, officials with the LRPD said officers responded to reports of a shooting just before 2 p.m. at 4 Birdie Lane.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they said they found Holmes suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Authorities said they attempted life-saving measures but Holmes died at the scene.

The next day, LRPD officials said they arrested 42-year-old Earnest Holmes in connection with the shooting. Police did not say if the victim and suspect were related.

Earnest Holmes has been charged with capital murder, two counts of terroristic acts and possession of a firearm by a certain person. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and is next scheduled to be in court at the end of September.
