LPD officer placed on administrative leave following accusations of neglect
An officer from the Logansport Police Department has been placed on administrative leave following allegations of neglect due to a post from Facebook on Sunday.
According to a press release from Logansport Police Department Chief Travis Yike, the Indiana State Police is conducting an investigation into the officer implicated following multiple calls to Cass Central Dispatch.
The allegations of abuse come from a Facebook post allegedly showing a child with connections to an LPD officer holding a sign, “I want to stab and kill my brother, I even take an antipsychotic. If you need to give pity, then give it to the victims.”
"As an organization committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to the community, Logansport Police Dept. is dedicated to ensuring that all actions by officers are consistent with our values and policies," the press release said. "The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, which will be conducted fairly and impartially."
The LPD said it will not comment further until the investigation's conclusion.
"The public's trust is paramount of important to us, and we take any allegations of misconduct very seriously," Yike said. "We are committed to maintaining the integrity of our department, and we will ensure a full and transparent process as we review the circumstances surrounding this incident."
