Madeline Brame, mother of a slain veteran, brought the crowd to boos against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in her speech at the Republican National Convention.

Positioned as an "everyday American" speaking about crime, Brame criticized Bragg for the handling of her son’s murder case.

Brame spoke on the second day of the Republican National Convention, which focused on law enforcement. Several notable Republicans spoke, including former presidential candidates, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

Who is Madeline Brame?

New York resident Brame is the mother of U.S. Army Sgt. Hason Correa, a veteran of the Afghanistan war who was fatally stabbed in Harlem in 2018.

Four people were convicted in his murder: Christopher Saunders, Mary Saunders, James Saunders, and Travis Stewart. Christopher and James Saunders were sentenced to 20 years in prison; Stewart received seven years. Mary Saunders was sentenced to a year in prison, but was released after sentencing because she had already spent 14 months in jail.

In her speech, Brame blamed Bragg for how the case was handled, criticizing what she called his “soft-on-crime” approach. In April, Brame had testified about Bragg before a House Judiciary Committee hearing on violent crime in Manhattan.

Bragg has been under fire from supporters of Trump for leading the hush money case against the former president in which he was convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

Brame has regularly appeared on Newsmax and Fox News programs.
