Man accused of robbing, tasing woman in the face

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man assaulted and tased a woman in her neck, face, and back while holding her against her will before taking over $1,000 from her in May, according to Memphis Police.

Jarvis Bailey, 31, is charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping, possession of a firearm/commission of a felony, unlawful possession of a weapon and two counts of aggravated assault.

On May 3, officers say the victim stated her boyfriend came over to take her to pay her light bill but instead, he assaulted her, tied her up and stole from her.

She said it started when he came inside her home and tried to take her cell phone. When she refused, Bailey allegedly slammed her head against the wooden door as she was trying to open it to leave.

MPD says Bailey then pulled out a taser and tased the victim seven times in the neck, three times in the face, and three times in the back.

As the victim attempted to fight back, Bailey allegedly pulled out a silver revolver handgun and pointed it to the back of her head saying, “You need to stop screaming before I blow your brains out.”

Bailey pulled out a blue rope and tied both of the victim’s wrists together before making her lay face down on the bed. He proceeded to sit on top of her back with the gun to her head while going through her phone, police said.

The victim says she asked him, “What do you want, money?”

At that time, Bailey made the victim tell him how to send money from her Cashapp to him. He sent himself $1,052, according to reports.

Bailey then took the rope from the victim’s wrists and stated, “I really like you, I don’t know if I should kill you or not.”

Along with the money, police say Bailey stole two of the victim’s cellphones and her Apple watch which totaled $2,200.

MPD says the victim had red marks around both of her wrists when she arrived to file a report. She was able to positively identify Bailey from a photo identification form.

Bailey is scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning.

On May 8, 2017, Bailey was convicted of facilitation aggravated arson and pled guilty in criminal court.
