Man arrested twice in 4 months on alleged sex crimes takes plea deal

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man accused of attacking a woman who was exercising in northeast Bakersfield has pleaded no contest to a felony count of sexual battery, according to court records.

Anton Kelly Hill pleaded no contest Thursday and a charge of assault with intent to commit rape was dismissed, records show.

Additionally, a misdemeanor case in which Hill was accused of masturbating while watching bathers in a pool was also dismissed, according to Superior Court records.

He faces four years in prison at his Aug. 15 sentencing, said Daniela Gonzaga, spokeswoman for the District Attorney’s Office.

Hill was 24 when arrested Feb. 9, 2023, on suspicion of attacking a woman from behind and attempting to rape her as she exercised on Panorama Drive near Morning Drive. He ran but a witness followed and directed officers to him, police said.

Released on bail, Hill was rearrested in June 2023 after surveillance footage captured him masturbating in a pool house while watching people use an apartment pool near Brimhall and Coffee roads, police said in a court filing.

An investigation began after police were called to the apartment complex to a report of someone “acting strangely and appearing to spy on their family,” according to the filing. Surveillance video showed Hill with his pants down engaged in what appeared to be a sex act, the filing said.

At a court hearing last summer, Hill’s mother claimed he experienced a seizure stemming from a medical condition while in the pool house. She said his rapid twitching movements were misinterpreted.
