Man booked into jail after home theft in Madera, police say

MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man has been booked into the Madera County Jail after a Madera resident reported a home theft, the Madera Police Department said.

Officers say they received a call regarding a subject who was seen removing property from a home in the 2800 block of Driftwood Drive in Madera.

Upon arrival, police say they noticed an open window. The resident was contacted and told officers no one had any permission to remove his property.

During the investigation, detectives say a suspect entered the home through the window and exited the garage. The suspect was last seen riding away from the home on a TV with a large TV strapped to the back of it.

Officers canvassed the Fresno River and said they located Michael Bennett on the ATV near Central Avenue and Gateway Drive. The TV was found in the riverbed. Bennett is on felony probation and was booked into Madera County Jail in connection with this incident and a probation hold.
