Man climbs into chimney, gets stuck in downtown Los Angeles

Firefighters were called to rescue a man stuck in a chimney in downtown Los Angeles Sunday.

The incident was reported just after 7:30 p.m. at a vacant four-story building on Flower Street near Pico Boulevard.

Video shows the man climbing into the chimney moments before he got stuck between the second and third floors.

A witness said she heard the man screaming from inside the chimney.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel used cameras to pinpoint the man’s location and then breached the wall with power tools.

After spending about two and a half hours inside the chimney, the man was rescued.

He was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

There was no word on what motivated the man to climb into the chimney.
