Man drowns at Taylorsville apartment pool while swimming with his children

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — A 35-year-old Taylorsville man is dead this afternoon after police say he drowned while swimming with his children at their apartment complex.

First responders pulled the man from the bottom of the pool after responding to the 4100 block of S. Oak Meadows Dr., according to Taylorsville Police Sgt. Corey Lavin. The drowning victim’s name was not released, pending fuller notification of family members.

While responders attempted life-saving measures, he was not able to be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at the scene. The only witnesses to the drowning were his two young children, said Lavin. The children are now with family members, he said. No others were around at the time of the drowning. The man was eventually found by another tenant, who called 911.

The investigation into the drowning is ongoing, but at the moment Lavin said the death appears to have been a “tragic accident.”
