Man who exposed genitalia, tried to grab child in Homestead is on the loose, cops say

Detectives are on the hunt for a man they say flashed his genitalia to a 10-year-old girl who was taking out the trash outside an apartment building in Homestead, police said. He’s been on the run for more than a month.

On Tuesday, police pleaded with the community for help to track down the man who exposed himself to the young girl May 31.

The 10-year-old was discarding the garbage near Phoenix Apartments, 1554 NE 8th St., when he approached her with his pants unbuttoned and “private parts” visible, police said. He tried to grab her before she escaped to a nearby playground to hide.

The man was described as a 40 to 50-year-old, around 5’10 tall, and weighing between 150 to 175 lbs. He also has short hair.

Police said he fled in a four-door beige or cream sedan, possibly an older Toyota, with multiple items inside.

Anyone with information should contact the Homestead Police Department at 305-247-1535.

“The community’s assistance has been invaluable in solving many cases in the past, and we rely on your support once again to help us bring this suspect to justice,” police said. “Your vigilance and cooperation can make a significant difference in maintaining the safety and security of our neighborhoods.”

This is a developing story.
