Man found dead in jail cell at Caddo Correctional Center

Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is reporting an alleged suicide at Caddo Correctional Center (CCC).

According to the sheriff's office, at approximately 3:26 a.m. Saturday, July 27, a 56-year-old male inmate was found unresponsive in his cell.

The inmate was booked into CCC on Thursday, July 25, for first-degree Rape, Molestation of a juvenile and Sexual Battery.

On Saturday, deputies went to the inmate's cell for a welfare check and discovered the man unresponsive. Deputies and medical personnel immediately began performing life-saving measures.

The inmate was transported to Willis Knighton North by the Shreveport Fire Department and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the sheriff's office, an investigation is under way in this incident.
