UPDATE: Centerville woman held without bail in connection with stabbing death in Hyannis

A 29-year-old Centerville woman was arraigned Thursday in Barnstable District Court in connection with the stabbing death of a man in Hyannis the evening before, according to information from the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office and the court clerk's office.

Juscelene Guedes pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Guedes was held without bail, and she returns to court Aug. 5, according to the court clerk's office.

Around 7:19 p.m. on Wednesday, Barnstable police received a 911 call reporting a crash near TD Bank at 226 Falmouth Road (Route 28) in Hyannis. A 33-year-old man in the car had been stabbed in the chest. He was brought to Cape Cod Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 8:36 p.m.

The 29-year-old woman who was arrested was inside the car with the victim, according to authorities.

Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office and the Barnstable Police Department are investigating. Second Assistant District Attorney Tara Cappola will prosecute the case.
