Man knocked unconscious by moped rider in Hell’s Kitchen dies: NYPD

HELL’S KITCHEN, Manhattan (PIX11) — A Brooklyn man died a week after he was punched unconscious while defending his friend during a fight with a moped rider in Hell’s Kitchen, police said Tuesday.

Florian Oltmann, 38, was punched in the face and knocked out when his head hit the sidewalk during an altercation outside a bar on 627 Ninth Ave. in Hell’s Kitchen at around 2:40 a.m. on July 23, according to the NYPD.

The suspect was riding on the sidewalk when he bumped into a 56-year-old man before they started fighting. The moped rider allegedly punched the man in the face and attacked Oltmann when he intervened, police said.

Both men were knocked out but only Oltmann was critically injured in the incident, authorities said.

The suspect took off on the moped after the attack. There have been no arrests.
