Man rescued after Jet Ski crashes in Mississippi River

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is in critical condition after his Jet Ski rolled over in the Mississippi River Sunday night.

4 killed in Holly Springs shooting

At about 9:30 p.m., officers responded to the Mississippi River just north of the I-40 Bridge. Witnesses who were also riding Jet Skis say they were returning to the harbor when they noticed a watercraft had capsized and a man was in the water.

They asked another man who was with the victim if they needed assistance. Police say he waved them away and said they were fine, but the witnesses continued on to the other man, who was unresponsive.

Officials launched a boat to rescue the victim, who was taken to Regional One Medical Center in critical condition.

Another man at the scene told them the two were riding Jet Skis when the victim “accidentally went full throttle and wrecked out.”
