Man, two teens charged after I-240 pursuit

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man and two teenagers are facing charges after police say they led officers on a pursuit on I-240 Saturday afternoon.

Memphis Police say 21-year-old Ladarius James, a 17-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old boy are all facing multiple charges, including theft of property, aggravated robbery, and evading arrest.

According to Memphis Police, officers responded to an auto theft at Parish LIFE on Central Avenue at 8:10 p.m. Friday. Police say a 2015 white Dodge Charger and a 2016 gray Dodge Charger were stolen from the scene between 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.

Police say that on Saturday, at 3:28 p.m., officers spotted the white Dodge Charger at the Ten Mile Creek Apartments. According to Memphis Police, the vehicle had been used in two robberies before officers found it on Tarrywood Drive and Tarry Park.

The vehicle reportedly fled from the officers “at a high rate of speed.” Memphis Police say officers deployed stop sticks but stopped the pursuit when the vehicle started driving in the opposing lanes of I-240.

Police say other officers in the area saw the vehicle use the Getwell Road exit. The vehicle reportedly struck another vehicle and finally stopped.

According to police, the three suspects and two teenage girls fled from the vehicle. All five were found and detained.

Memphis Police say the teen girls, ages 16 and 17, were released without charges.

According to police, James also had warrants out for theft of property, robbery, domestic assault, and sexual battery.
