Man wanted for 2022 Hagerstown murder arrested in North Carolina

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (DC News Now) — The Hagerstown Police Department (HPD) has announced that a man wanted for a homicide from 2022 was arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina on June 13.

According to police, investigators have been searching for Taejon Gill since 44-year-old Sharron Clark was shot and killed on Oct. 18, 2022.

According to a previous DC News Now report, around 8 p.m., Hagerstown officers were in the area of Jonathan Street when they heard gunfire. At the same time, dispatch was notified of a gunshot victim in the 550 block of Murph Ave.

When officers arrived, they found Clark, who had been shot multiple times.

He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

As the investigation developed, police determined that Gill was a suspect in the case. However, he has been on the run for almost two years.

As of June 18, he was awaiting extradition back to Maryland.

“A special thank you to the HPD detectives that worked on this case. They tirelessly investigated and worked relentlessly to see that Gill was brought to justice,” HPD said in a post on social media.
