Man in Wisconsin on the run after allegedly shooting at deputies and running into the woods following police chase

BARABOO, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in central Wisconsin are looking for a man who is accused of shooting at deputies after a police chase.

The Baraboo Police Department posted on its Facebook page about an incident where a man allegedly fled from authorities and fired a gun toward deputies. On July 23 around 11 p.m., a police officer tried to pull over a vehicle for a possible intoxicated driver.

Authorities say that the vehicle fled from the officer and drove at a high rate of speed on HWY 78. A few minutes later a Sauk County Deputy saw the same vehicle on HWY 113.

In order to try to stop the vehicle, an officer used stop sticks but the vehicle reportedly drove around them. The release says that the vehicle eventually crashed a short distance later.

When authorities got to the scene of the crash, the driver allegedly fired gunshots toward deputies before running off into a wooded area. One deputy had a minor injury as a result of the incident.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Jeffery Miller is at large and reportedly has ties to Sauk and Juneau County areas. Police say that Miller is presumed to be armed and was last seen wearing a black shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call 608-355-4495. Authorities did say that anyone who sees Miller should call 911.
