Manufacturing company closing, subsequently laying off 39 Wisconsinites

MIDDLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – A manufacturing company that makes cancer treatment equipment announced its intentions to close its only Wisconsin facility, laying off dozens of Wisconsinites.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD), Sun Nuclear Corp., a Mirion Medical company, will be conducting layoffs of employees in connection with the closing of the facility located at 7600 Discovery Drive in Middleton.

As a result, corporate officials say 39 employees will be laid off. The first layoffs are expected to begin on August 30. The affected employees are not represented by a union and do not have any bumping rights.

Bumping rights mean senior-level employees whose positions have been eliminated will not be offered alternative positions currently held by a less senior employee.
