How many wildfires are in New Jersey burning? Drought conditions fueling flames

Wildfires are consuming the Northeast, including New Jersey, as drought conditions and the smoke lingering across parts of the state.

New Jersey's conditions are the driest they have been in nearly 120 years and water levels are declining across the state and officials officials say it could take up to 10 inches of rain to quench the drought.

And the lack of rain isn’t helping emergency crews as they deal with at least six wildfires across the state. Here's where they are located.

How many wildfires in New Jersey?

As of Wednesday night, there were a half-dozen wildfires in New Jersey, with some burning for almost two weeks.

  • Cannon Ball Rd, Southeast of NJ Route 287 in Wanaque Borough, Passaic County - a wildfire has been burning for four days over 181 acres and is reportedly 100% contained.

  • Craigmeur Lookout (1.6 miles southeast of Oak Ridge) in Rockaway Township, Morris County - a wildfire has been burning for 11 days over 170 acres and is approximately 85% contained.

  • Shotgun, West of Stump Tavern Road in Jackson Township, Ocean County - wildfire has burned for five days over 350 acres and is 90% contained.

  • Bethany Run, Sycamore Avenue in Evesham Township on Camden and Burlington County borders - a wildfire has raged for five days over 360 acres and is 90% contained.

  • Pheasant Run, Carpenter and Moore Avenue in Glassboro, Gloucester County - a wildfire has burned for five days over 133 acres and is 75% contained at this time.

  • Halloween, 3 miles northeast of Newport in Downe township, Cumberland County - a wildfire continues to burn for 12 days over 140 acres and is 90% contained.
