Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a road rage incident with shots fired.

Deputies said Davon Dabbs, 20, of Taneytown exited one vehicle with a passenger while Christopher Moore, 36, of Taneytown, exited a second vehicle. A verbal argument between the three then became physical.

Moore’s fiance, a 33-year-old woman, arrived with a legally owned handgun hoping to de-escalate the situation as Moore was being assaulted. Instead, police said, Dabbs rushed at her and attempted to take the handgun.

Dabbs was shot in the left leg in the scuffle and gained control of the handgun, firing several shots. Moore was struck and killed while Dabbs’ passenger was struck in the hand.

Moore’s fiance suffered injuries including a broken jaw after deputies say Dabbs struck her in the face multiple times. Dabbs was arrested Saturday and arraigned on felony homicide and assault charges. He was held without bail and a preliminary hearing is set for August 6 in Carroll County District Court.
