Maryland woman found dead near Canton Twp. railroad tracks
CANTON TWP. – A 24-year-old woman was found dead Friday afternoon near railroad tracks along Trump Avenue SE, south of Orchard View Drive SE.
Harry Campbell, chief investigator of the Stark County Coroner's Office, said Saturday morning that the woman was from Maryland.
She appeared to have died only minutes before she was discovered before 1 p.m. Friday by a motorist driving on Trump Avenue, Campbell said. He declined to discuss a preliminary cause of death or type of injuries.
Campbell said he pronounced the woman dead at 1:16 p.m.
Her body was transported to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy, which should be completed Monday, Campbell said.
Authorities from the Stark County Sheriff's Office are investigating the death, Campbell said.
