Mashpee police investigate stabbing of New Bedford man at Attaquin Park

Mashpee police are seeking information about an early-morning stabbing that happened at Attaquin Park, according to a press release.

Just after 2 a.m. on Saturday, Mashpee police were notified of a man with an alleged stab wound to his back being brought to Falmouth Hospital as a passenger in a private car. Mashpee and Falmouth police officers were able to find the victim on Route 28 around the Mashpee/Falmouth town line where the driver was instructed to pull over to wait for an ambulance.

After providing first aid, police determined the 24-year-old New Bedford man had been stabbed at Attaquin Park in Mashpee during an altercation, according to the press release.

He was brought to Falmouth Hospital by the Mashpee Fire/Rescue Department with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

"The crime scene was ultimately secured and an open and active investigation was initiated and is now ongoing," reads the press release.

Mashpee Police were assisted at the scene by the Falmouth Police Department and the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations Unit. If anyone has information, they are encouraged to call the Mashpee Police Department Detective Bureau at 508-539-1480.
