Kim Green has lived in Mayflower for 23 years. She was on the way home from a doctor’s appointment when she saw the crime scene.

“It’s very quiet, it’s very family oriented and I feel safe,” Green said. “It was very concerning to us to see all of that.”

Mayflower police say a man and a woman were found dead inside a car with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of First Baptist Church of Mayflower.

Authorities said the bodies were found around 12:30 p.m. when doing a welfare check.

The pastor of the church, Chris Satterwhite, said he found out what happened in his church parking lot from a phone call from officials.

“Unusual phone call to get and now to kind of figure out how we can help but sure be praying for the families involved,” Satterwhite said.

He said it’s something you don’t see happen in Mayflower, but their thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.

“Really just our only hope is in Christ and that’s what we hope anyone could find out in this,” Satterwhite said.
