Republican U.S. Senate candidate David McCormick will address the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Tuesday in the 7 p.m. ET hour, his campaign said Monday.

McCormick, who is running to unseat U.S. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.), is the only Pennsylvania candidate scheduled to speak during the convention, according to a joint release sent from the RNC’s Committee on Arrangements and GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign on July 13.

The list of GOP officials and candidates mentioned under headliners and keynote speakers includes 56 people, none of whom are currently elected officials in Pennsylvania.

The theme for Tuesday’s list of events is “Make America Safe Once Again,” according to a release sent by the Trump campaign last week.

McCormick was also one of the speakers at a Trump campaign rally in Butler on Saturday, where the former president was the target of an assassination attempt. He was seated near Trump during the shooting that left attendee Corey Comperatore dead and two others injured. The shooter was also killed at the scene.

On Monday morning, McCormick sent out a post on social media proposing that he and Casey suspend negative advertising in the race, in the wake of the assassination attempt. Casey said Saturday his campaign had paused its ads.

Trump on Monday named GOP Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance as his running mate. McCormick celebrated the selection in a social media post, calling him a “fantastic addition to the ticket.”

Trump has led President Joe Biden in recent polling in Pennsylvania, while Casey still maintains a multiple-point advantage over McCormick in the race for U.S. Senate
