Memphis man arrested after woman assaulted at Alcoa gas station
ALCOA, Tenn. (WATE) — A Memphis man is facing charges and the Alcoa Police Department is urging the public to lock their car doors after a woman was assaulted at a gas station on Alcoa Highway near Green Acres Flea Market.
Demarious Moore, 32, of Memphis has been charged with burglary and aggravated assault. He was arrested and is in police custody according to the Alcoa Police Department.

APD shared that surveillance video shows the victim leaving her car to enter the gas station and a man getting into the backseat of her car. The victim told the police that the man hid on the floorboards of the backseat until she returned to the vehicle, and then he grabbed her throat. According to APD, she managed to fight him off and escape from the car.
She then called 911 and was able to give his description to dispatchers. Offices found Moore, who matched the description from the victim, at Starlite Drive on Alcoa Highway.

“The APD warns the public to lock car doors and be aware of all surroundings. These incidents do happen, even in our small town. While the subject of this attack is in police custody and off the streets, the APD asks citizens to please stay vigilant and watchful, even if you think you’ll only be out of your vehicle for a few minutes,” wrote Alcoa Police in a release.
