Menasha woman taken into custody for 2nd OWI, injures 3 in head-on collision

MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 25-year-old woman from Menasha was taken into custody for a Felony OWI charge after a head-on collision injured three people, one of which is considered to have life-threatening injuries.

According to the Menasha Police Department, the two-vehicle head-on collision happened just before 8:10 p.m. in the 300 block of Depere Street on Saturday.

An initial investigation showed that the alleged drunken driver was northbound on Depere St. when she reportedly crossed the center line and hit a southbound vehicle head-on.

In the southbound vehicle was a 10-year-old, a 53-year-old woman, and a 27-year-old man. Officers say the child and the woman were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. However, the 27-year-old man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Menasha woman was the only one in her vehicle and she also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Officers say that the investigation determined that she was impaired, allegedly.

She was subsequently taken into custody for Felony Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense, Causing Injury, and charges of Felony Operating While Revoked Causing Injury are said to be recommended.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and no additional details have been provided.
