Metro rolls out fare charts in Spanish at all stations

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) announced Thursday that it started rolling out signage in Spanish.

In a post on X, WMATA said that Spanish language fare charts will be at all stations in order to make Metro more accessible.

The signs feature the fare rates for all Metro stations, advertise adding SmartTrip cards to riders’ mobile wallets and explain who might be eligible for reduced fare rates.

Metro also encouraged Spanish speakers to look through its Spanish language rider guide. The guide lists all Metro stations and their corresponding colors, has a QR code for users to download Metro’s app and includes a map of the entire Metro system.

There is also a section in the guide for riders to jot down any notes that they might have.
