New Mexico’s governor weighs in on President Biden’s re-election campaign

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham weighed in on United States President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign after a series of gaffes have fueled speculation about whether he should stay in the race. “I’ve been really clear to the White House and to President Biden as a candidate that it’s a much tougher election. And so we all better be prepared and know what your risks are,” said Governor Lujan Grisham.

Concerns over the president’s fitness to serve in office grew on Thursday after he mistakenly referred to Donald Trump as Vice President and Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky as Vladimir Putin. Those comments followed his disastrous debate performance weeks ago.

The governor did not specifically address the gaffes during an interview with KRQE News 13 but said it is imperative to have a candidate who will defeat Donald Trump. “He’s going to have to make that decision, but it’s better to make that decision when you have people like me telling you the facts about where we are as a country and knowing that he can count on me and the Democratic party can count on me to do my part,” said Governor Lujan Grisham.

When asked if she thinks New Mexicans have faith in President Biden, Governor Lujan Grisham said she hopes they have faith in saving America’s democracy.
