Miami-Dade man jailed for hoarding child porn, including victims as young as 2: cops
A Miami-Dade man was arrested Wednesday on charges of hoarding files of child sexual abuse material, with some victims being as young as two years old, police say.
In August, Miami-Dade police was sent a cyber tip by the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force about someone uploading abuse material to Kik, a messaging app.
Police say Kik had flagged the account and reported it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Following an investigation, Miami-Dade Police identified Erick Paniagua, 29, as the owner of a Kik account, according to his arrest report.
Paniagua was uploading the material under username Richardmans12 and using Skiff, an encrypted email service, police say. Investiagtors found about 100 files on the account, according to the arrest report.
Police say the victims in videos and pictures are described as boys and girls ages 2 to 12.
On Wednesday, the MDPD Special Response Team executed a search warrant at the residential address linked to the IP service associated with the account.
Paniagua confessed to the charges after being read his rights, according to his arrest report.
His electronic devices were seized and are currently being examined by the MDPD Digital Forensics Unit for further evidence, police say.
He faces 15 counts of possession of sexual performance by a child. He is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and has a $30,000 bond, court records show.
