MNPD, Belmont University Campus Security apprehend suspect that fled from police

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) and Belmont Campus Security apprehended a suspect that fled from authorities Monday night.

According to an email alert from Belmont’s Office of Campus Security, a suspect fled from MNPD around 7:35 p.m. and ran onto campus grounds. The suspect was eventually apprehended around the Bell Tower with the assistance of Belmont Campus Security.

“You will see a larger than normal police presence on campus through this evening, but there is no ongoing threat to the campus community,” the email read.

News 2 later learned that the suspect was one of Nashville “Most Wanted” fugitives. The man — identified as 23-year-old Elijah Maitland — had five outstanding warrants for aggravated burglary, false imprisonment, domestic assault and two counts of interference with an emergency call.

News 2 has reached out to MNPD for more information on the incident, though no additional details were immediately released.
