Left-leaning MSNBC pulled talk show “Morning Joe” from the air on Monday following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump over the weekend — fearing that one of its rabid anti-Trump guests may make an inappropriate comment, according to a report.

Hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, staunch Joe Biden advocates, were expected to return to the anchor chairs Tuesday, despite the huge political news and Monday night’s start of the Republican National Convention.

MSNBC rolled out breaking news coverage Monday morning instead of risking one of its stable of talking heads uttering something that could paint the show and network in a bad light, a source familiar with the matter told CNN on Monday.

An NBCUniversal spokesperson denied the CNN report.

“Given the gravity and complexity of this unfolding story, NBC News, NBC News NOW and MSNBC have remained in rolling breaking news coverage since Saturday evening,” the rep told The Post on Monday.

Cesar Conde, chairman of NBCUniversal News Group, made a joint decision to pull the show Monday morning with MSNBC president Rashida Jones, Scarborough and Brzezinski, the source told CNN.

Scarborough did not return a request for comment.

The former Florida congressman posted on X on Sunday, “Political violence has scarred America’s landscape from JFK through January 6th. Republican and Democratic politicians alike have been victims and this violence has caused incalculable harm to America. Thank God President Trump is safe.”

Scarborough also wrote, “Our family is praying this morning for President Trump, those injured yesterday, and for the loved ones of the American tragically killed. May God grant mercy on them and deliver us from the violent political rhetoric that coursens [sic] debate and endangers public servants.”

“We should also keep in our prayers Gabby Giffords, Steve Scalise, and Paul Pelosi — who all still suffer from the wounds inflicted upon them by political violence.”

The comments came after the progressive MSNBC morning show’s hosts had called on jittery Democrats to support Biden in the wake of his disastrous debate performance.

Brzezinski opened last Monday’s show with a 15-minute monologue in defense of the incumbent.

She attacked Trump’s bid for the presidency and said the choice between Biden and Trump is “one terribly bad night versus a decade of destruction to our core beliefs, our democratic values and yes, our Constitution.”

MSNBC’s decision to yank “Morning Joe” shocked political observers, with some conservatives noting it that network bosses lacked trust in one of its most high-profile shows to sensitively cover a fraught situation.

“The fact that Morning Joe’s own network can’t trust its flagship brand not to spew reckless and inflammatory crap during breaking news tells you all you need to know about the credibility of the MSNBC lineup,” a veteran Republican consultant told Fox News Digital.

OutKick founder Clay Travis added: “Damn. I’d quit if any of my bosses tried this.”

Trump, meanwhile, called for unity after the near-fatal attempt on his life moments after the start of the rally in Butler, Pa.

“In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Biden also called for a cooling of political rhetoric while addressing the nation from the Oval Office on Sunday.

Many other Republicans have blamed Dems’ own piercing comments about Trump for the act of violence — in which 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks took aim at the former president from a nearby roof while Trump spoke on a campaign stage.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) was a victim in 2017 when a gunman opened fire during a Republican congressional baseball team practice. He was in critical condition after the mass shooting and suffered broken bones and internal bleeding.

“For weeks Democrat leaders have been fueling ludicrous hysteria that Donald Trump winning re-election would be the end of democracy in America,” Scalise said in a statement. “Clearly we’ve seen far left lunatics act on violent rhetoric in the past. This incendiary rhetoric must stop.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) accused the Democratic Party of trying “to murder President Trump” in a post on X.
