Motorcycle rider killed in fiery crash on US 287 in Boulder County

DENVER (KDVR) — A motorcycle rider was killed in a traffic crash with an SUV on Monday night at the intersection of U.S. 287 and Isabelle Road in Boulder County.

Mountain View Fire Rescue reported that the crash happened at about 6:48 p.m. According to initial reports, the male motorcyclist “disregarded” a traffic signal and hit a Mazda SUV on the rear, driver-side door.

The collision caused a fire, which fully engulfed the SUV. The SUV’s driver was able to escape the blaze through their passenger door.

The motorcycle rider did not survive the collision, Mountain View Fire Rescue reported. It was unknown whether the SUV driver suffered any injuries.

Colorado State Patrol, Lafayette Fire Rescue, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and the Erie and Lafayette police departments all responded to the scene.
