Motorcyclist hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after west Las Vegas valley crash

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A motorcyclist was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a crash in the west Las Vegas valley.

The crash occurred on Sunday morning at the intersection of Buffalo and Alta drives. According to witness statements, and surveillance footage, the incident involved a 2023 Kawasaki motorcycle traveling northbound on Buffalo Drive towards Alta Drive. At the same time, a 1998 Ford Expedition was making a left turn from southbound on Buffalo Drive onto eastbound Alta Drive, guided by a flashing yellow left turn traffic signal.

The driver of the Ford Expedition failed to yield the right of way for the approaching motorcyclist, resulting in a crash, according to police.

Police said that emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the injured motorcyclist to a local hospital. Medical staff determined the injuries to be life-threatening, police said.

The driver of the Ford Expedition remained at the scene and did not exhibit signs of impairment.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section is currently still investigating this crash.
