MPD: 1 dead, another hurt after separate shootings in DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Police said one man is dead and a woman was hurt after two separate shootings happened minutes apart early Thursday morning.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), around 1:45 a.m., officers were called to the 3900 block of 1st Street Southeast, near Atlantic Street for a shooting. Upon arrival, police found a man in the roadway with gunshot wounds.

DC Fire and EMS rushed the victim to the hospital where he died.

As of Thursday morning, the victim’s name has not been released.

Multiple men hurt in triple shooting in Northwest DC

About 15 minutes later, police were notified of a second shooting in the 1400 block of Park Road Northwest. There, police located a woman and she was taken to the hospital. As of Thursday morning, her condition is unknown.

Police said both shootings remain under investigation.
