MS man accused of booby-trapping no-parking sign with razors
LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Miss. — A Mississippi man is accused of putting razor blades in a no-parking sign adjacent to his property, and now faces serious charges after a woman was injured trying to remove the sign.
Jason Curle was arrested Wednesday after Lafayette County investigators say the College Hill man “booby trapped” a no-parking sign with razor blades and placed it on property adjacent to his on County Road 130.
A woman, who didn’t know the sign was dangerous, was cut on her right hand when she tried to remove the sign from a gravel parking lot next to Curle’s mobile home.
“I mean it was just a small cut on the side of her hand, wasn’t gushing or anything, but it was a cut. It cut her good,” said Jordan Jennings, manager of Sky Mart Bait Shop and Grocery in Oxford, who was on duty when the woman came in asking for help.
Friday there were still a number of no-parking signs on Curle’s property, but according to the affidavit the sign involved had multiple razor blades attached.
The gravel parking lot where the sign was found had recently been enlarged, and is on property used by the Lafayette County Fire Department, the College Hill Community Center and a nearby school. Curle had reportedly placed “no parking” signs there before.
Curle was arrested and released with a $20,000 bond.
