Multiple Arlington roads to shut down for July 4th events, fireworks

ARLINGTON, Va. (DC News Now) — Multiple roads in Arlington County will be closed for Independence Day festivities.

The Arlington County Police Department, Virginia State Police, U.S. Park Police and the Virginia Department of Transportation will be shutting down roads on July 4th to help safely regulate large crowds that are expected for events and fireworks.

These roads will be closed from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.:

  • Marshall Drive, from Route 110 to N. Meade Street

  • N. Meade Street, from Marshall Drive to N. Fairfax Drive (access to the Ft. Myer Heights neighborhood will be from the Rhodes Street bridge – local traffic only)

  • Exit ramp from westbound Route 50 to N. Lynn Street (Rosslyn exit)

  • Exit ramp from eastbound Route 50 to N. Meade Street (Rosslyn exit)

  • Eastbound N. Fairfax Drive, from N. Pierce Street to N. Fort Myer Drive

Fort Myer Drive, between 19th St. N. and Arlington Boulevard will be closed from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Memorial Bridge and Memorial Circle will be closed along with access to the Air Force Memorial.

Street parking on these roads will not be allowed. Any illegally parked cars could be ticketed or towed.
