Myrtle Beach police officer’s vehicle hit while on scene of crash, authorities say

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A Myrtle Beach police officer’s vehicle was hit Wednesday evening by another vehicle while the officer was at the scene of a crash, the department said on Facebook.

An officer responded at about 10:50 p.m. near the 1200 block of Port Drive for a vehicle that overturned, police said. The officer was called to help the South Carolina Highway Patrol direct traffic when their vehicle was hit by someone else at about 11:15 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but neither them nor the officer were injured.

“It is important to remember when approaching any active scene with police, fire, EMS or a tow truck that you slow down or move over to keep those involved safe,” the department urged.
