Nashville airport ranks lower than most for flight delays, disruptions across US
Flight delays and cancellations can ruin your good mood at the start of a summer vacation or make you grumpy on the way home. How likely will your trip be delayed out of Nashville International Airport? And which other destinations could cause you travel hiccups on your return flight?
A new study by AirHelp, a company that helps passengers with claims against airlines, shows that Nashville's airport ranks better than most in the U.S. for the number of delays and disruptions in May 2024, the start of summer travel season. Nashville International Airport ranked 7th on the list of airports with the fewest disruptions.
For the study, AirHelp looked at airports with 5,000 or more flights in May and calculated how many of those flights were disrupted. AirHelp defines a flight disruption as any departing flight that is delayed or canceled.
Last month, the Nasvhille airport served more than 2.2 million passengers.
How many flight disruptions at the Nashville airport?
In May, 17.9% of departing flights at Nashville International Airport were delayed or canceled.
The airport with the fewest disruptions was Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, where only 14.2% of departing flights were delayed or canceled.
If possible, avoid Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, where 29.1% of flights were disrupted in May.
