NATO Looks to TITUS and McAfee Solutions to Secure Sensitive Information

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA--(Marketwire - Oct. 23, 2012) - (McAfee Focus 2012 - Stand E16) - Many of the world's largest organizations are realizing the benefits of using TITUS Classification solutions in conjunction with McAfee Data Loss Prevention (DLP) to protect sensitive information. NATO is using TITUS Message Classification in combination with McAfee DLP to ensure their most sensitive information is being shared appropriately and protected effectively.

"There are many ways information can leak out of networks, but until we understand our information we cannot identify if, where and when it may leak," said John Tatman, Principal Information Assurance Engineer with NATO. "Sharing information with a growing coalition of partners increases the risks in this area. Using TITUS Classification in conjunction with McAfee DLP is one of the steps NATO has taken to ensure that we effectively identify and improve the security of our information."

The integration of TITUS Classification solutions and McAfee DLP reduces the risk of data loss by capturing end-users' inherent knowledge about the sensitivity of information. The two applications work together to make that information available to McAfee host- and network-based DLP. The DLP solutions can then take action based on the user classification labels and corresponding metadata. Users are empowered to classify information, removing the risk of relying solely on automated content scanning to determine what is sensitive. The end user, who knows the content best, can proactively tag the information as sensitive for more intelligent and accurate DLP decisions.

"Many large organizations, such as NATO, are seeing the benefits of using TITUS Classification and McAfee DLP together to protect sensitive information," said Tim Upton, Founder, President and CEO of TITUS. "The interoperability between our products will help to ensure that organizations in all sectors will be able to effectively share information while protecting it from falling into the wrong hands. The relationship between TITUS and McAfee and the interoperability of our products is of undeniable benefit to our current and future customers."

By combining TITUS Classification with McAfee DLP, organizations can create policies for regulated or sensitive data that may not otherwise be tagged as sensitive. The McAfee and TITUS joint solution increases user awareness and responsibility by encouraging users to review what they are about to send and by helping them prevent violations of company policies. TITUS solutions have seamless integration with the most advanced and scalable security management software in the industry: McAfee® ePolicy Orchestrator® (McAfee ePO™) software. McAfee ePO software can be used to deploy TITUS solutions on the endpoint and to audit the classification of information across the enterprise.

"We are pleased to see customers such as NATO benefitting from using the integrated McAfee DLP and TITUS Classification solution for information protection," said Ed Barry, vice president of the Security Innovation Alliance, McAfee. "The TITUS classification solutions complement McAfee DLP, and the joint solution provides our mutual customers greater control over managing the movement of their sensitive information."
