Nearly all Jefferson County Clerk's Office locations now open. What to know

All of the branches of the Jefferson County Clerk's Office, with the exception of the downtown location, are now open, communications director Ashley Tinius said Saturday.

The agency had to close its offices for several days following a ransomware attack on its computer systems, The Courier Journal previously reported.

The Dixie Highway branch had reopened on a limited capacity on Friday and Tinius said several other branches were expected to open the following day. The Highview location, one of the offices that opened Saturday, had to be shut down in the morning due to technical issues, but has since reopened.

Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw said Thursday she did not believe any customer data had been compromised in the attack and that the FBI and the the Central Infrastructure Security Administration were investigating the incident.

“Our forensic team and our IT team are checking everything," Tinius said during a Thursday news conference. "They are making sure everything is safe. We’re not going to reopen until we know the computers are safe and have not been infected.”

Renewal deadlines for July would not be extended despite the service interruption, Holsclaw said.
