News of public record: Guernsey County restaurant inspections

The following are restaurant inspections with critical violations, as conducted by the Guernsey County Health Department from July 1-19.

July 2

Angi's Roadside Diner, 3394 Glenn Highway, Cambridge. Raw shell eggs were stored above ready-to-eat items in the prep unit.

Circle K #4705285, 307 Clark St., Cambridge. Sink was not accessible for washing hands. Raw eggs were stored above ready-to-eat food. Food items in the cold holding unit registered above 41 F: Caesar salad 48.8 F, ham and cheddar wrap 47.7 F, spicy chicken wrap 47.1 F.

July 3

Mel's Drive-In, 110 Caldwell St., Pleasant City. Bread and buns did not have ingredients or source information. Raw hamburgers observed above lettuce, peppers, sauerkraut and hot dogs. Ice cream scoop stored in water that is not at least 135 F or above and is not sanitized at least every 4 hours. Peppers were deteriorated and sitting in discolored liquid. Ham and turkey were not date marked.

July 12

Ruby Tuesday #4358, 2250 Southgate Parkway, Cambridge. The person in charge (PIC) is unable to demonstrate knowledge by having no critical violations. PIC not ensuring employees are properly sanitizing equipment and utensils and monitoring of sanitizer parameters. PIC did not ensure employees were properly maintaining the temperatures of foods during hot and cold storage. PIC is unable to demonstrate knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing. PIC is unable to demonstrate knowledge of foodborne disease and the significance of maintaining time/temperature controlled for safe food. The chlorine level registered 0 parts per million and the line from the sanitizing bucket to the dishwasher was empty. Bacon sitting out at room temperature. Several foods on the salad bar were not being held at the proper temperature: spinach 48 F, lettuce 48 F, eggs 48 F, cheddar cheese 49 F, and mozzarella cheese 49 F. Several foods in prep units were not being held at 41 F or below: salmon 45 F, crab salad 46 F, cole slaw 45 F. cheese slices 49 F, tomatoes 46 F, cheese 47 F. Jasmine rice and broccoli cheddar were not date marked. Ants in the office area. Detergent was not being dispensed to the dishwasher and the feeder line was dry.

July 17

Papa John's Pizza, 605 Southgate Parkway, Cambridge. A strong, offensive sewage odor was noted originating from the drains of the three-compartment sink.

Galaxy Pizza, 1201 Woodlawn Ave., Cambridge. Sliced tomatoes, cut lettuce, and cooked sausage had internal temperatures of 53 F, 50 F, and 48 F respectively. The sink in which tomatoes and lettuce are being washed is not provided with an air gap as required.

July 18

Circle K #4705286, 287 Main St., Byesville. Food debris and residues in the handwashing sink. The handwashing sink in the rear is filled with distressed merchandise and is not accessible. Sausage croissants, bacon croissants, and cheeseburgers exceeded the seven day date mark on their packaging.

July 19

The Dockside Restaurant, 16592 Lashley Road, Senecaville. Raw pork stored above ready-to-eat Hollandaise sauce and sausage gravy.

Robert T. Secrest Senior Center, 201 High St., Senecaville. Employees are not informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report information about their health.
