News of public record: Tuscarawas County restaurant inspections

The following are restaurant inspections with critical violations, as conducted by the Tuscarawas County Health Department from July 8-12.

July 8

Love Gas Car Wash Inc, 524 Cherry St., Tuscarawas. The ambient temperature of the glass show fridge was at 45 F. There were missing and incomplete allergen declaration(s) on the deli sandwiches.

Shady Rest Army Navy, 6166 Ohio 250 NW, Beach City. The cheese and chopped tomatoes were not date marked. The food prep sink outlet was directly connected to the drain.

July 9

Grinders Above & Beyond, 3003 N. Wooster Ave., Dover. The croutons, nuts, and French onion soup were stored in uncovered containers. Food container lids in the food preparation line were cracked and chipped.

July 10

Dover Duchess/BP #1075, 1120 N. Tuscarawas Ave., Dover. The opened bag of pulled pork had not been date marked to indicate the date or day by which it is to be used, sold, or discarded. The pizza sauce had been marked to be used, sold, or discarded 30 days after opening.

Malcuits Tavern, 719 S. Wooster Ave., Strasburg. Observed improper barehand contact with ready-to-eat pickles and tomatoes intended for serving. Sautéed mushrooms prepared in the facility were temped at 178 F after half an hour of cooling.

311 Wine Room, 311 N. Water St., Uhrichsville. Employees are not informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report information about their health.

Speedway #6244, 1042 N. Tuscarawas Ave., Dover. Rolls were being held below 122 F.

July 11

Tienda La Fe, 401 W. Third St., Dover. Raw animal foods such as raw chorizo and raw shell eggs were stored directly on top of or adjacent to ready-to-eat foods. The quaternary ammonium compound sanitizing solution's chemical concentration is approximately 50 parts per million.

Penso's Pizza, 151 N. Wooster Ave., Strasburg. The chlorine sanitizing solution was at a high concentration. The piercing parts of the can opener were unclean.

Giant Eagle #4089, 515 Union Ave., Dover. The mechanical dishwasher's hot water sanitizing rinse did not achieve a minimum temperature of 180 F. The surface temperature of utensils and food contact surfaces did not achieve a minimum temperature of 165 F. Water from the bulk water machine is not sampled and tested for coliform bacteria at least semi annually. The most recent sample on-site was from October 2023.
